XFERMANY: multi-file transfer utility

Description

Sends or retrieves multiple files to or from other systems using the Wang TRANSFER utility and Wang Systems Networking (WSN). Up to 20 files or libraries may be specified at one time.

XFERSCRN: Screen file for XFERMANY. Required for operation.

User Instructions

Choose the processing option from the first screen. You may either send or retrieve files or exit without processing.

The next screen prompts for the target system and volume, whether you wish to send or retrieve an entire library, and the files to be sent or retrieved. Up to twenty file or library names may be entered.

Press (RETURN) when all entries have been made and each will be sent to the transfer or retrieve queue in turn. The screen fields are cleared when all have been sent to the queue. Press PF(16) to return to the option menu, or PF(32) to exit the program.

Example of use

The option to transfer a library is the best use for this utility. Use to transfer large numbers of files from one system to another.

Comments

Awkward, with no GETPARMs for data entry. File and library names will be the same on the destination system as on the source system; this often means that the input files will have to be copied to a new library before being transferred to avoid name conflicts on the destination system. Also, a valid volume name must be known before the transfer will succeed.
