Besides the option to run any program, programs supported by PROCGEN include BELL, SORT, TRANSL, CONVERTC, CREATE, COPY, DISPLAY, TAPECOPY, COPY2200, DISKINIT, EDITOR, EZFORMAT, DATENTRY, REPORT, several languages, LINKER, and BACKUP. Functions supported include SET processing for most usage constants, timed use of the workstation alarm (the BELL subroutine), and SCRATCH options for files or libraries.
Since simulated screens are used by PROCGEN to capture information, PROCGEN is vulnerable to changes in the utilities it works with.
For example, the CREATE option can be used to run make a procedure to control this powerful but cumbersome utility. As shown in the examples (see the sample CREATE screens, OUTPUT, INPUT, and EOJ), the PROCGEN simulation is often very close.
