LISTCLIB: lists COPY and CALL statements in COBOL programs

User Instructions

Scans COBOL source files for COPY and CALL statements and produces a report showing the programs that use them.

To use, enter the name and location of the file to be processed and the option (COPY and CALL references). Leave the file name blank to process all COBOL files in a library - LISTCLIB will skip files that are not COBOL source. At the conclusion of the search, the user may restart the program, display the listing, or exit the program.

Reports are produced in COPY or CALL order.

BASIC source is available.

Programmer Instructions

Interactive use only.

If you expect a large listing and wish to increase the allocated size of the work file, use the PRNAME OUTPUT to intercept the hidden output GETPARM for the file. (The default record count is only 1000.)

Cross-references COPY and CALL statements over a large group of COBOL programs. Use to generate where-used references for system documentation.

Comments

Generates documentation for COPY and CALL usage; best used in COBOL shops that make high use of either. Would benefit much from the addition of GETPARMs so it could be used under program control.
