For example, if FILE is left blank, a list of libraries will be returned; if both FILE and LIBRARY are blank, the list will be of volume names. 2) Special characters "?" and "*" may be used in addition to standard characters to search for "generic" file/library/volume names; the field characters are interpreted as follows: "?" - this accepts any string, including a null. e.g., "#?PRT" would accept #PRT,#XYZPRT, etc. "?" alone would accept all file/library/volume names "*" - this accepts any single nonblank character. e.g. "FRED*" would accept FRED1 but not FRED or FRED12 " " - blanks are ignored wherever they appear in the field All other characters are handled as usual; wherever they appear in the mask field, they must also appear in the file/library/volume name.
